I‘m looking for a jazz drummer and bassist to accompany me in a piano trio (I’ll be playing piano). Below are the songs that I will be playing, and the list will be updated as more songs are learned.
As stated, I’m looking for a drummer to play mostly brushes and a bassist (acoustic upright only, please). Assume that we will do this for free initially, and if lucky enough, for pay later.
The songs will be played EXACTLY as arranged in the recordings below, pretty much note for note, unless there is a compelling reason to play differently. This just makes it easier to practice and learn in the beginning. Basically, the songs will be learned like a classical musician learns his pieces. I have a full time job, so practices will be limited and done efficiently, meaning it’s best to learn the song on your own, and when you’re ready, we can rehearse it together to work out all the rest of it.

I know both songs; very beautiful version of Masquerade. I love Gene Harris and have been enjoying his playing for years. I especially liked his album Yesterday and Today, a double record set with my friend John Hatton playing bass on it. And what can you not say about Oscar Peterson; I just watched a song on You Tube with Jo Jones on drums; totally amazing playing. I assume that’s Ron Eschete on guitar and I know the bass player but can’t think of his name.
Yes, that is Ron on the guitar, with Ray Brown and Jeff Hamilton. You know, I’ve never heard the “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” album because it’s not available anywhere. Please let me know how I can get a copy. I see Gene plays a version of Hymn to Freedom on it, and I would literally die to hear it!

I like Oscar, Ray, and Gene at least as much as you do.
The idea of learning these tunes “verbatim” is intriguing to me.
Unlike you, I don’t have a day job: I’m a full-time professional musician.
